“The world is too big for us. Too much going on, too many crimes, too much violence and excitement. Try as you will you get behind in the race in spite of yourself. It is an incessant strain to keep pace and still you lose ground. Science empties its discoveries on you so fast you stagger beneath them in hopeless bewilderment. The political world is changing so rapidly that you’re out of breath trying to keep pace with who’s in and who’s out. Everything is too high pressure. Human nature can’t endure much more.”
Atlantic Journal , June 16, 1833
Adversity. Challenge. Change. Diversity. Commitment. Opportunity. These words describe our daily lives in both business and social endeavors. At first glance it would appear that not much has changed since 1833. Upon deeper reflection we see that much has; we have endured, and we continue to endure. Our ability to do so then and now comes from unification, people coming together for a common purpose. This purpose is what guides the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce, a membership-driven organization committed to preserving and strengthening local business opportunities while maintaining the high quality of life we are accustomed to in our region.
Promoting the importance of local agriculture, business, education, infrastructure and advocacy through programs such as Young Americans, Young Professionals, ATHENA®, Leadership Susquehanna Valley (LSV), Governmental Affairs Committee, Downtown Affiliates, Susquehanna Industrial Development Corp. (SIDCO), and the Transportation Committee, the Chamber brings people together for common causes.
The value offered by the Chamber is upheld by more then 700 business, educational institutions, civic groups, and service organizations that devote countless hours and effort participating in a myriad of endeavors that help insure our economic and social health. We applaud you all for your efforts and your membership and with your guidance pledge to continue to work to maintain and improve the wonderful life we have here in Central Pennsylvania.
Sincerely,
