Selinsgrove

Seibert HallQuality of Life:  It’s a phrase used often when the subject of Snyder County, and particularly Selinsgrove, comes up. The charm of “America’s hometown” combines with the excitement of today’s lifestyle to create a quality of life that anyone would find fulfilling. It’s not unusual to see a young couple holding hands, strolling down the brick-paved sidewalks of downtown Selinsgrove, or to hear the laughter of children on the swings at a local playground.

The friendliness is genuine, and for those lucky enough to settle here—lasting.  Snyder County offers education and employment opportunities, shopping experiences, dining, lodging, and medical facilities. Enjoy the arts, fine recreational, and sports activities — sometimes right in your own backyard! Newcomers are drawn to Snyder County’s unique cultural heritage and its year-round recreation, hunting and fishing opportunities. The sheer beauty of unspoiled streams, forests, and rolling farmlands surrounds the quiet majesty of the Susquehanna River. There is something here for everyone.

Founded in 1787 by Captain Anthony Selin, who fought with General Washington in the Revolutionary War, Selinsgrove features a delightful blend of small-town friendliness and scenic countryside.

Quaint shops, restaurants and businesses with an abundance of colonial and early American architecture set this town apart. Stroll the brick-paved sidewalks and tree-lined downtown where an array of specialty shops, restaurants, and professionals offer quality goods and services with personalized attention. You'll find shopping, even browsing to have an unhurried, relaxed pace here.

A favorite for golf, dining, and special events, Selinsgrove’s Susquehanna Valley Country Club has been named the Valley’s best-kept secret. Also tucked away in the Valley, Shade Mountain Vineyards is an ideal destination for locals and visitors alike. Housed in a beautiful 19th century barn, Shade Mountain offers free wine tasting and one of the most spectacular views in the Valley.

IsleSelinsgrove is also home to Susquehanna University, which is consistently recognized as one of the best liberal arts colleges in the Northeast by numerous college guidebooks.

Its quiet streets, historic homes and easy access to downtown shopping and schools make Selinsgrove an ideal place for families. Situated on the shores of the Susquehanna River, there are many opportunities for boating and swimming in the summer or ice fishing and skating in the winter.

Regardless of the season, Selinsgrove offers year-round enjoyment and security as a place to work, live and play.
