LEADERSHIP SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY E-NEWSLETTER

June 2009 Edition

Letter from the Interim Executive Director

Jenny Daddario

What a wonderful evening.  I had the privilege of seeing 31 professional men and women who I have come to know as friends, graduate from Leadership Susquehanna Valley.  It was a great time to share with business associates, family and friends and an experience that I hope will stay with each of the graduates for a lifetime.

I have appreciated the diversity of this class, always questioning, always challenging, always showing passion and purpose.  I am certain that through their Leadership experience, they will make their communities better places to live, work and play.  They will make a difference.

To the class of 2009, congratulations for completing Leadership Susquehanna Valley.  You are now alumni.  You join an elite group of people that have committed themselves to making a difference in the world around them.  Don’t ever forget the things you have seen, the things you have learned and the things you know you can make better.

To the class of 2010…get ready for a remarkable experience.

Class of 2009 Graduates

Jenny Daddario

The Colonel John Kelly Room at The Country Cupboard in Lewisburg was the setting for this year’s Leadership Susquehanna Valley graduation.  Over 120 family, friends and co-workers came out to celebrate the achievements of the 31 graduates.

LSV President Ryan Unger welcomed the graduates and shared with them their future as community leaders.  The group joins more then 350 alumni throughout the Valley.

Dr. Dan Perna, who spoke to the class in January during its Education Program Day, was invited back to present the keynote address at graduation.  Dr. Perna talked to the group about dedication and determination, citing examples from his parent’s lives and their commitment to work and community.  Dr. Perna is a speaker and trainer for schools and businesses across the country.

Bryan Allinson, the elected representative for the class of 2009, wrapped up the program by promising a strong commitment to support and represent his class during the next four years on the Leadership Susquehanna Valley Board.

Class of 2010 Now Forming

The Board of Directors has been actively reaching out to area organizations, seeking applicants for the Leadership Susquehanna Valley Class of 2010.  The board members have truly enjoyed the opportunity to talk with individuals about the leadership experience and are looking forward to welcoming the class at the kick-off retreat in September.  There is still time to get your application in.  Please click here to download your application.  If you have any questions, please contact Jennifer Daddario at jdaddario@gsvcc.org or 570-743-4100.

Why LSV?

Megan Dugan, chair, LSV Recruitment Committee

Recruiting for the class of 2010 is well underway, but we need your help.  Do you remember why it was you got involved in Leadership Susquehanna Valley?  It may have been because you were "voluntold" that you were going to participate.  Or maybe you sought the experience on your own.  In any case, most LSV grads find that they were encouraged by someone who saw in them the potential to grow as a professional and as a leader through the experience.

As you live and work here in the Valley, please keep your eyes open to potential class member candidates.  When you come across them, please take a moment to suggest that they consider participating as a class member.  Partial scholarships may be available, so if tuition is a concern, please have them contact me at 524-2884 for more details.

Thank you in advance for all that you do in the name of Leadership Susquehanna Valley.
