Committees

One of the many benefits of joining the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce is the great volunteer opportunities that are provided. Committee work offers an opportunity to get involved and network with other members with similar concerns.

Some of the standing committees include:

Agriculture Committee
Chair: Mike Schrey, AgChoice Farm Credit, ACA
The Agriculture Committee works to ensure that the agricultural base of the Valley is maintained and helps promote a better understanding of its importance to the Valley’s economy. This Committee also promotes the economic benefit of agriculture and agribusiness as an important part of the economy of the Greater Susquehanna Valley. Ambassador Committee
Co-Chair: Judi Karr, Nottingham Health Care Services
Co-Chair: Erica Shames, Susquehanna Life magazine

The Ambassador Committee acts as goodwill representatives at various Chamber functions and community events.  This group assists with welcoming, nurturing, and aiding in the retention of members. Staffed by Jennifer Daddario, Director of Operations & Membership Development, jdaddario@gsvcc.org

ATHENA® Committee
Co-Chair: Patty Bennett, The Daily Item
Co-Chair: Patty Fulmer, Susquehanna Bank

The ATHENA® Committee seeks to develop, plan and execute the ATHENA® Award Program for the Greater Susquehanna Valley.  This award recognizes individuals who actively assist women to realize their full potential, achieve professional excellence in their business, and improve the quality of life for others in the community. Business and Education Committee
Chair: Dr. James Hartman, Associate Member

The purpose of the Business & Education Committee is to work with area public school districts, career & technology centers, private schools, trade schools, career schools, and universities to ensure that the workforce training needs of the Valley's employers are being met, and to provide opportunities for students to interact with business people both in and out of the classroom. Governmental Affairs Committee
Chair: Pat Morolo, SUN Area Career & Technology Center
Develops, promotes, and articulates the business viewpoint of federal, state, and local issues that impact the health and vitality of business in the Greater Susquehanna Valley. This committee is jointly held by the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Central PA Chamber of Commerce. Staffed by Julie Hartley, Executive & Finance Manager, jhartley@gsvcc.org

Membership Committee
Co-Chair: Janie Neff, Next Step Coaching
Co-Chair: Ellen Lazur, Bowen Agency

Develops programs to welcome new businesses to the Chamber and promotes Chamber Membership as a benefit for all business and professional firms in the region. In addition to participating in the Chamber’s Membership campaigns, the committee sponsors new members throughout the year and encourages their continued participation. Special Events Committee

Plans, organizes, and conducts activities and events for Chamber members to help promote education, fellowship, and networking opportunities. Staffed by Megan Bollinger, Director of Special Events, mbollinger@gsvcc.org

Women's Leadership Symposium
Co-Chair: Patty Bennett, The Daily Item
Co-Chair: Patti Fulmer, Susquehanna Bank of PA

Visions and Connections is a women’s leadership symposium, inviting women to join their peers from the Valley to spend a day with highly experienced professionals. The conference gives attendees dozens of new ideas and action plans to boost their career, their attitude and their life. It’s especially designed to give powerful information and profound insights that will make a lasting, positive impact on attendees’ lives. This conference is about getting it “right”, and is what this unique, day-long event is all about. Staffed by Megan Boilinger, Director of Special Events, mbollinger@gsvcc.org

Young Americans Committee
Chair: Dr. Daniel Perna, James Daniel & Associates, LLC

Recognizes outstanding accomplishments of students in participating high schools for their achievement in academic and extra-curricular activities. Recipients from each school district are selected each month, September through May, and are recognized at a banquet in May each year. They also participate in a Leadership seminar on their role in the future of the Greater Susquehanna Valley. The committee and the Chamber promote student excellence through the cooperation of Sunbury Broadcasting Corporation, The Daily Item and several other media sources that publicize recipients on a regular basis.  Staffed by Megan Bollinger, Director of Special Events , mbollinger@gsvcc.org

CSVT Task Force
Chair: Joe McGranaghan, Sunbury Broadcasting Corporation
The proposed $418 million CSVT (Central Susquehanna Valley Transportation) Project is the single largest economic development project in the history of the Valley. Currently the task force is working to have the CSVT added to the Appalachian Regional Commission allocated miles. PennDOT has put the project in hibernation for now.

Transportation Committee
Coming Soon!

Encourages public sector support for improved roads, streets, highways, bridges, and traffic flow to enhance the Greater Susquehanna Valley as a place to operate a business. Also, works to enhance motor freight and railroads serving our area as product shipping resources.
