Gift From Giant Benefits Child Advocacy Center

L to R: Dr. Michael Ryan, Director of Geisinger’s Women and Children’s Institute, and Dr. Pat Bruno, Medical Director of the Child Advocacy Center accept a check from Giant Spokesman Christopher Brand

Giant Food Stores announced Friday a special $75,000 directed gift to Geisinger’s Child Advocacy Center (CAC).

The donation was announced during a special open house event at the CAC, which included tours of the facility, refreshments and the special donation announcement.

The $75,000 gift was part of a $1 million donation Giant Foods made to three Pennsylvania Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals as part of the store’s 95th anniversary.

“We are so grateful for the gift from Giant and Children’s Miracle Network at Geisinger,” said Melissa Wagner, Child Safety and Advocacy Director. “This continued support helps us provide comprehensive services for abuse victims.”

Geisinger Pediatrics received $150,000 of the $1 million gift, with half directed to the CAC and the other half designated for another children’s hospital department. That announcement will be made in mid-June.

“We passionately believe in giving back to our communities, and we are especially committed to the health of our customers and their families,” said Nicholas Bertram, president of Giant Food Stores.
